COSA

CITY OF OXFORD SCHOOL ASSOCIATION

NOTE: THIS IS NO LONGER THE MAIN COSA WEBSITE, AND WILL BE DISCONTINUED WHEN THE TIME COMES FOR RENEWAL. SEE BELOW FOR THE NEW AND MORE VERSATILE WEBSITE.

See http://cosa.webplus.net for COSA Updates and Newsletters for Members.

Alongside is the crest that is on the COSA tie. Look at "Contacts" to see the crest "in context". Unfortunately we have sold out of ties.

NEMO REPENTE SAPIT

Welcome to the COSA. This website is dedicated to former members of the City of Oxford School, also known at times as the Oxford High School for Boys and the City of Oxford High School.

See http://cosa.webplus.net for COSA Updates and Newsletters for Members.

We aim to provide information and news of interest to ex-pupils and ex-teachers and to facilitate contact amongst them (see the link above). This is an unpretentious website, as befits the Old Boys it serves. Because of the popularity we considered upgrading the site, but we have introduced COSA Updates which are emailed to Old Boys about once every two months. These have an immediacy that is proving popular, because Old Boys can respond to them straightaway. We can also reproduce colour photographs.

The annual membership fee for members of COSA is £10. Life membership is £50. The website is dedicated, however, to all former members of COS, whether or not they decide to become members of COSA. See the page “CONTACT”

WEBMASTER is Mike Chew. He can be contacted by mail at 2 Beverley Gardens, Stamford, Lincs. PE9 2UD, by phone on 01780-763496 and by email on chewmike@aol.com. Former members of the City of Oxford School are invited to write to Mike, telling him of their whereabouts, what they are doing with themselves these days and penning reminiscences. It would be appreciated if this information were copied also to Malcolm Williams.

Mike has handed over the task of compiling the COSA Updates to Malcolm Williams (williams.malcolm@sky.com). These Updates appear about once every two months. They cover news of Old Boys, reminiscences and photographs, and are sent to all Old Boys with a known email address, whether they are members of COSA or not. The material the appears later on this website, but not the photographs, and also appears in the six-monthly Newsletters, which are sent by email to members of COSA only, or by post to those who do not have an email address.

The pages of the COSA website are: HOME, CONTACT, HISTORICAL, NEWS & NOTICES, MAGAZINE, OLD BOYS NEWS, REMINISCENCES and SCHOOLDAYS. Apologies from Mike Chew for the fact that this website has not been updated for some while. He is now in the process of rectifying the situation.

HOME is this page.

CONTACT contains a registration form for all Old Boys of the City of Oxford (High) School, plus an application form for those who wish to join COSA. COSA exists, however, for all Old Boys of COS, whether or not they have choose to become members of COSA. It also contains the Information Form for the proposed School Register 1925-66. There is already in existence a Register going up to 1924, which contains potted CVs of boys who were at the School during that period.

HISTORICAL includes items that may loosely be termed "historical".

In NEWS & NOTICES you will find important news items and details of functions like reunion dinners.

In OLD BOYS NEWS we shall publish email addresses, home addresses or telephone numbers only with the expressed permission of the Old Boy concerned.

REMINISCENCES contains memories of our time at COS, which we wish to share with others.

MAGAZINE brings extracts from our old school magazine.

SCHOOLDAYS contains longer reminiscences
